A MARKET-leading scientific research company has invested in a new Runcorn laboratory to discover natural ways of tackling crop mildew and fungal damage.
Micap plc relocated to the Heath Business and Technical Park from Newton-le-Willows. It specialises in providing tailor-made solutions for companies in the pharmaceutical, food and industrial markets.
Work at the Runcorn laboratory includes the development of fungicides using killed yeast cells to protect against high temperatures, pressure, sunlight and air exposure. Craig Duckham, Micap technical director, said: 'No-one else is doing this type of work in Europe or the USA. We really are leading the way.'
Micap has plans to expand operations from its Runcorn site during the next two years after signing an agreement with Nufarm, one of the world's leading crop protection companies.
