A little girl with cancer is calling on bakers to cook up a treat for Valentine’s Day to raise funds for her charity.

Erin Cross, of Upton, will be holding a Valentine’s cake party at All Saints Church Hall in Hoole on Sunday, February 16 to raise funds for Alder Hey Hospital.

The family event, organised by mum Sarah, will have a bouncy castle, Totally Into Art craft table, Disney characters, face painting, craft stalls, raffle and refreshments.

There will be a visit from the Toys R Us mascot to give sweets to the children.

Sarah is currently taking entries for the cake competition which will be judged by Jules Smith, of Cake Chester.

Sarah says: “Cakes have been an important part of Erin's recovery. Whist she was going through her most intensive chemotherapy, and was in isolation at home she used to love pretending to bake cakes. Her auntie Jen bought her a pink cake stall and she spent hours playing despite feeling very poorly.”

She added: “We hope to raise as much as we can at this event and we have lots more planned throughout the year.”

Anyone wishing to enter can contact Sarah through their Facebook page, All About Erin.

Erin, three, was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukaemia on December 3, 2012 when she was only two years old. Since then, family and friends have raised nearly £10,000 and they are continuing to raise more.

The family hope to raise a further £20,000 for the hospital’s oncology unit this year with the funds going to research into children's cancer.

Erin’s Valentine’s Party is on Sunday, February 16 at All Saints Church Hall in Hoole from 2.30pm. Entry is £2 per adult and £1 per child or £5 for a family.
