Two casualties have been taken to hospital following an accident on Good Friday involving a single vehicle on a country road.

The accident happened this afternoon on Chester Road, between Aldford and Churton, with emergency crews called about 4.15pm.

Firefighters cut off the roof of the grey Nissan to assist in releasing the two occupants from the car. A man and a woman were taken from the scene by ambulance about 5.30pm with suspected back injuries.

Police set up a road closure and carried out an investigation. A tow truck arrived to remove the wreckage.
