ORGANISERS of the Chester Half Marathon are offering people the chance to get involved in their next seminar and training run on Sunday, March 3, which will mark a 10-week countdown to the race.

The seminar, titled ‘You can run a half marathon’, is designed to provide expert support and guidance for those who are training for their first half marathon or looking to achieve a personal best. It will focus on building up to half marathon distance, training schedules, stretching technique and how to avoid injury, coaching tips, race day preparation and a section on choosing the right footwear, led by TriActive, a specialist local triathlon shop.

The seminar will be hosted by joint race organiser, Chris Hulse and qualified coach Dave Taylor. Following this, there will be an opportunity to take part in a training run which will be split by distance and pace to accommodate runners of all abilities.

Chris said: “The training sessions and seminars provide an ideal opportunity for runners to train with like-minded people in an informal and friendly environment, while gaining valuable advice, tips and encouragement from experts.”

This will be the third training run of the year, following two successful events in January and February. The last training run in early February saw 50 people brave the cold weather to attend.

Those wanting to attend the seminar and training run on Sunday should meet in the cafe area of Total Fitness, Liverpool Road, Chester, at 9am. The seminar will last for about an hour-and-a-half hours, followed by the training run.

The Chester Half Marathon will take place on Sunday, May 12.

There are still places available, but they are selling out fast. To enter or to find out more about the training run series, visit www.chesterhalfmarathon.co.uk.
