Forecasts for Cheshire West suggest we can bid farewell to our recent cold snap as warmer weather is finally on its way.

It's been a chilly start to spring, with showers, hail and even a snow warning issued for the borough for last Friday (April 29).

But temperatures are expected to steadily rise this week, with mercury set to reach 19°C by Sunday (May 8), according to the Met Office.

Sunny spells and the odd shower will characterise Tuesday (May 3), while Wednesday will be cloudy and breezy but mostly dry.

"There will be increasing amounts of sunshine towards the end of the week and it will be turning warmer," a Met Office spokesperson said.

The drier and brighter weather is a little too late for the bank holiday weekend, however, which proved to be a bit of a washout.

But the rain failed to dampen spirits at at the inaugural Hoole May Day Festival.
