RENOVATIONS at Helsby Community Sports Club have nearly doubled membership, according to club secretary Graham White.
Improvements to sports facilities have seen a boost in members participating in sporting activities, while a makeover of the social club has transformed it into a popular meeting point.
The club received a £500 grant from Weaver Vale Housing Trust to help redecorate.
Mr White says the makeover has made a real difference.
He said: 'Previously people using the club for sport would not come into the social area but now many have started to use it.'
Weaver Vale Housing Trust has an annual pot of £10,000 for community groups, sporting teams and good causes in Vale Royal.
Tenant participation officer Tracey Holdcroft says Helsby Sports and Social Club was chosen to receive a grant because of its importance to the community.
She said: 'We were delighted to help the club because it was in desperate need of funding.'
