Motorists could face even more delays on the A483 at the Posthouse Roundabout tomorrow (Tuesday, February 3) as emergency utility work will see an extra lane closed for most of the day.

One lane of the northbound carriageway of the A483, on the approach to the Posthouse Roundabout, will be closed from 8.30am until 4.30pm, to allow ScottishPower to carry out emergency utility work.

One of the three lanes on the approach to the roundabout itself is already closed and the Highways Agency say this will be in place until Friday, March 20.

It is expected to cause more traffic misery for drivers who have already been subjected to miles of tailbacks during the last fortnight due to a £5.3m scheme to improve the A483 Posthouse Roundabout junction, expected to be complete on March 31.

The ongoing work has caused chaos on the A483, the A55, and other main roads in Chester and North East Wales, as frustrated drivers try to find alternative routes.

A North Wales Police spokesman advised that drivers leave extra time for their journeys.

He said: “The Highways Agency has been advised that one lane of the northbound - ie Chester-bound - A483 on its approach to the roundabout with the A55 will close from 8.30am until 4.30pm for Scottish Power to carry out works.

“The lane closure is in addition to the current capacity restrictions at the roundabout itself as the Highways Agency delivers a £5.3 million Pinch Project to tackle congestion and boost safety.

“Drivers are advised to leave extra time for their journeys and check traffic conditions before setting out.”
