The Duke of Westminster touched the lives of so many people, as these rare pictures show.
The images, in the gallery above, are from our archives and show His Grace mixing with people from all walks of life, from members of the Royal Family to youngsters at local primary schools.
The duke, who sadly passed away yesterday (August 9), aged 64, was more than just a billionaire landowner and property developer.
He was a philanthropist, a benefactor for countless charities, and supported many other good causes, locally and nationally.
His public engagements meant he appeared regularly in the pages of The Chester Chronicle through the years, while we were also there to capture moments such as his wedding to Natalia Ayesha Phillips in 1978 and the marriage of his eldest daughter, Lady Tamara Grosvenor, to Edward van Cutsem, at Chester Cathedral in 2004.
So as tributes to the duke pour in from across the world, we delved into our archives to find the pictures in the gallery above – some of which are extremely rare and have been published again for the first time in many years.
