After a glorious weekend with some of the hottest days so far this year, last night's storm (Monday, May 19) brought thunder, lightning and torrential rain to the region.
We asked Twitter followers if they had captured the storm in their area.
Professional photographer Sam Ryley, of Chester, also emailed us a selection of stunning shots.
He said: "I love a good storm so as soon as I heard the first clap of thunder I was out and about with the camera getting a good soaking, which is why you may see some rain spots on the lens."
