Heartbroken partner Linda said: “He was a loving partner, a loving father to his daughter and step-children.

“He was always smiling, always happy and he touched the hearts of everybody he met. He never let anybody get him down, he was a good person overall.

“His hobbies were his bikes and his cars. he was just a wonderful man.

“The family wish to appeal to any witnesses for the loss of Cliff.

“We're very keen to hear anything that can get to the bottom of what happened.

“There could have been people from Liverpool and North Wales way driving past at that point”

The battle to save his life was lost after Mr Johnson had been taken to the Countess of Chester Hospital.
