Roadworks on a major route in and out of Chester will cause disruption to traffic this week.

The northbound carriageway of Liverpool Road – going away from Chester – will be shut 9.30am- 3.30pm all this week (February 29-March 4) to allow footway reconstruction and kerbing work on the section between Total Fitness and Eversley Park.

Cheshire West and Chester Council website warns motorists that ‘delays are likely’. Diversions are in place.

The five-day programme is being carried out to the pavement on The Queen’s School side with plans for the opposite footway to be resurfaced at a later stage. The pavement has become uneven due to patching following utility works over a long period of time. Pollarding is also being carried out on some trees that line the road.

A northbound section of Chester's Liverpool Road is closed all week

Access to Queen’s Lower School will continue as normal.

Rachel Cookson, head of the Lower School, said: “When informed of the lane closure on Friday, we initially put in place new access arrangements for our parents to collect their daughters but this has proved unnecessary and the usual drop-off and pick-up system has now been reinstated.”
