OBJECTIONS were raised to the prospect of a suburban takeaway opening on Sundays.

The change of opening hours was proposed at the Beijing Palace, 47 Five Ashes Road, Westminster Park.

The hot food takeaway is in the estate shopping parade, according to a report.

Most of the shops close on Sunday but an adjacent Co-op is allowed to trade until 10.30pm.

There are residential properties above and on all sides of the parade.

The takeaway told planning officers at Cheshire West and Chester Council it hoped to open between 6pm and 9pm on Sundays.

Environmental protection officers did not believe the hours would be unreasonable but ‘numerous’ representations poured in from occupiers.

They told planning officers they were concerned about increased litter and traffic, parking on double yellow lines and an increase in anti social behaviour.

Environmental protection officers reported they had no complaints about the takeaway and did not believe that with 10pm closing occupiers’ sleep would be disturbed.

The report suggested that any unacceptable effect on the amenity of neighbours should be balanced against the limited hours applied for and suggested a temporary 12-month permission to allow the situation to be reviewed. This was agreed.
