A fundraising event at Nuffield Health Chester’s Fitness and Wellbeing Gym raised more than £450 for Diabetes UK.
Following news that 4m people in the UK have type one or type two diabetes, the team kicked off the day with a diabetic-friendly low-GI coffee morning. Staff baked their favourite cakes ensuring sugar was swapped for a substitute.
Gym goers also donated to take part in a 1,000 calorie spinning class challenge, with the goal of raising as much money as possible while getting active and having fun.
To top off the day’s activities, 12-point health MOTs were offered by neighbouring Nuffield Grosvenor Hospital experts in exchange for a donation and a raffle gave the chance of winning prizes including a three-month gym membership, a personal training package and a sports massage.
General manager at the gym Debbie Potsig said: “There has been such a lovely atmosphere here at the gym. The staff and clients really have gone the extra mile to raise awareness for Diabetes UK and everyone just loved the Low GI cakes.
“Diabetes UK is such a worthy cause and Nuffield Health Chester is passionate about working within the local community to raise awareness, improve fitness and wellbeing and improve overall health.”
