Police are appealing for information following two incidents of vandalism at Stanney Fields Park in Neston.

First, a motorcycle was stolen from Brook Street car park between the evening of Friday June 12 and the early hours of the next morning. A motorbike was then found burnt out in the ‘sunken garden’ area of the park on June 13. Significant damage was caused to the ground and a wooden bench as a result of the fire.

Further damage took place in Stanney Fields Park Between June 13 and 15 when the bench involved the fire had large pieces of wood sawn out of it. The offenders then proceeded to cut down a number of trees from the skate park area. The damage caused as a result of these actions is estimated to be in the £1,000s.

'mindless vandalism'

Sergeant Daniel Greenhalgh, from the Neston Policing Team, said: “This is mindless vandalism to a community park enjoyed by families. Those responsible for this damage should be ashamed of their actions and clearly will not comprehend the cost of the damage. Our investigations will go wider than just the Stanney Fields Park location and we will make use of the CCTV network available.

“Did you see suspicious activity? Did you see anyone with a saw in the street? Local officers are keen to trace suspects and bring them to justice.“

Investigations are ongoing into the incidents.
