PLANS have been revealed for a huge elderly care village, creating more than 100 jobs.
The Bolesworth Estate has exclusively revealed details of a development near Tattenhall for more than 160 units to provide specialist care for local residents.
The proposed site at Frog Hall Farm will include flats, personal and nursing care, support services, a restaurant, cafe-bar, library, IT room, swimming pool and wellness centre, hairdressers, shop and landscaped gardens.
There will be 36 care bedrooms, 18 close care accommodation units, 95 assisted living units and a further 16 linked assisted living units – all available to buy or rent.
It comes after it was predicted that the number of people aged over 65 living in Cheshire West would double during the next 20 years. There are currently 62,700 pensioners living in the area.
Diana Barbour, Bolesworth managing director, said: “We have seen the problems caused by a lack of quality care provision for the elderly in the village. In particular, the closure of the Rookery and the stagnation of the housing market in Tattenhall have exacerbated problems.
“We have been working on this proposal for almost four years now and we are delighted to have such an experienced team working with us. My husband Anthony Barbour, who was instrumental in bringing this project forward but sadly died in 2007, would be proud of the plans that are proposed.
“As a major and continuing stakeholder in the Tattenhall Parish we believe that by working with our partners, Bolesworth can bring a sustainable solution to care for the elderly in this part of rural Cheshire.”
If planning permission is granted by Cheshire West and Chester Council, the complex is due to be completed by 2013.
Members of the public are invited to an exhibition at the Barbour Institute in Tattenhall to find out more about the plans on Friday (2-6.30pm) and Saturday (10am-1pm), February 12 and 13.
