A TEAM of students and teachers will set off for Romania to help youngsters and elderly people.
A total of 13 big-hearted sixth formers and two teachers are aiming to raise the £14,250 needed to pay for the week-long trip.
They have a lot of fundraising to do before they can travel to the Urvind area of the country with Teams4U on March 20.
A jive night on January 30, at Christleton Parish Hall featured dance sessions by Chester dance school Aspirations and one member of staff has volunteered to get his head shaved later this month.
Donna Fraser, a teaching assistant going on the trip, said: “We’ll be working a lot with homeless children, disadvantaged families and in nursing homes. I’m quite looking forward to that because I used to work in a nursing home.
“It’s up to students to organise activities. It’s going to be good for students to sort that out.
“Judging by the photos from last year, the students got a lot out of it.”
Teacher Dave Hislop will join Ms Fraser on the trip.
Next up is a band night at the school’s assembly hall on February 10 at 8pm.
Open to the public, the night will see pupils showcase their musical talents.
A day of bag packing at Sainsbury’s is also being arranged and a photographs of teacher’s babies will be displayed with an invitation to pupils to guess which baby belongs to which teacher.
In the run up to Valentine’s Day, a ‘candygram’ service will be set up when pupils can pay £1 to send a message with a bag of sweets to their Valentine.
