A paedophile has admitted abducting and raping an 11-year-old girl from Ellesmere Port .

Fifty-two-year-old Paul Ripley pleaded guilty to one count of kidnap, two counts of raping a child under the age of 13 and one count of driving dangerously on the M6, during a hearing at Chester Crown Court on Thursday (February 11).

Ripley, of no fixed address, appeared via video link from HMP Manchester, speaking only to confirm his name and enter his pleas.

Ripley’s victim - who cannot be named for legal reasons - was reported missing from her home on the night of November 7.

She was found in a village in County Durham at around 1.45am the following day.

Ripley was pulled over and arrested on the M6 near Preston a short time later.

Branding it an ‘extremely serious case’, Recorder Richard Pratt QC said: “It is inevitable that the court which passes sentence will have a very serious and severe sentence for these offences.”

Ripley will be sentenced at Chester Crown Court on April 4.
