MEDIEVAL mayhem was the order of the day at the Dodleston Village Festival.

This year’s theme of Knights and Castles saw crowds of jesters, courtiers and princesses flock to the village green on Saturday for an afternoon of entertainment and activities.

The event was opened by Chester MP Stephen Mosley, with court jester Mike Dix playing master of ceremonies.

Village king and queen Jamie O’Connor and Zoe Theil travelled in style, leading the annual parade in a Triumph Stag.

They were followed by children from Dodleston CE Primary School and accompanied by the Royal Buckley Town Band.

The day’s highlights included a mouth-watering roast pig, bric-a-brac and cake stalls, face- painting and an Aunt Sally tent.

There was a prize for the best-painted shield, while unlucky festival goers found themselves trapped in the village stocks and bombarded with wet sponges.

Money raised will be split between St Mary’s Church, Dodleston CE Primary School and Dodleston Village Foundation.
