The home of Frodsham’s Rainbows, Brownies, Guides and Senior Section is in need of a revamp and the community’s help to achieve it.
Plans for an extension to Frodsham headquarters on Ship Street are being drawn up to make the building more accessible with the additions of a new kitchen, entrance, disabled toilet and more storage space.
One Guide, one Senior Section, two Rainbow and three Brownie units currently use the building as their base, as well as a karate group on Mondays.
Nikki Barker, leader of 3rd Frodsham Brownies, said: “By doing the extra work, we would hope to encourage more people to use the building.
“The extra facilities would mean the building was more accessible to others who might want to make use of the venue in this locality.
“It will allow dedicated storage space for tables and chairs, leaving more floor space for games and activities for the Brownies, Guides and Rainbows.
“There will be two modern toilets, plus a disabled toilet, which will be much more welcoming than the current very old fashioned bathrooms. There will also be a much larger kitchen, allowing for the girls to do cooking activities in a dedicated area, rather than having to do them in the main activity room.
“We are hoping to apply for some local grants and we would be very grateful for the help of any local companies who may be interested in supporting, sponsoring or carrying out any of the work.”
Nikki said they will be holding a variety of fundraising events in the new year once they know the full cost of the improvements.
