A village was left grid-locked after a collision involving a motorcycle and a car.

The accident happened in Chester Road, Helsby, about 8.20am today (Thursday, April 2) with police officers and an ambulance called to the scene.

Cheshire police spokesman Stuart Timon said: “The rider of the motorcycle, a 17-year-old local man, received some injuries in the incident although they are not life threatening. A 46-year-old local man who was driving the other vehicle involved, a black Vauxhall Astra, was unhurt.”

Helsby resident Becky Carmichael said at the time: “The A56 is closed both ways and there is an ambulance at the scene. Traffic is chaos in Helsby.”
