A man has been charged with causing the death of a 60-year-old cyclist by dangerous driving following a collision on the A483 near Rossett.
Polish national Damian Niepieklo, 22, who has been remanded in custody, will appear in court on Monday morning over the death of Alan Cronin , of Guilden Sutton near Chester.
He has also been charged with failing to stop and failing to report a road traffic accident.
T he collision happened close to junction 7 of the northbound carriageway near the Rossett flyover at 2.23pm on Thursday afternoon.
Chief Inspector Darren Wareing said: “We are still appealing to anyone who witnessed the collision, or who may have seen the cyclist or a white Fiat van in the vicinity at the time of the collision to contact North Wales Police on 101, quoting incident reference S084345.”
The devastated family of Mr Cronin described him as the “best possible dad, husband, brother and partner” and said he “would do anything for anyone”.
In a statement they said: “Alan was the best possible dad, husband, brother and partner to have, willing to do anything for anyone.
“He was always someone to turn to and had a solution to any problem.
“He was an active member of Chester Triathlon Club and loved being with the club, with friends and family.
“He was the most fantastic man and he’ll stay with us for the rest of our lives.”
The family added: “We thank everyone who’s been so supportive so far and we ask for privacy at this time whilst we try to come to terms with everything that’s happened.”
The northbound carriageway was closed off for several hours while police investigators worked at the scene.
