Eddisbury MP Antoinette Sandbach cut the ribbon to open a fully fitted kitchen extension at Hargrave Village and Church Hall.

Sheriff of Chester Alex Black and his Lady Sheriff Janet Black and Chester town crier David Mitchell were also guests of honour at the event on Friday, April 22.

Residents Vicky Paget and Trish Onslow-MacAulay created dishes in the new kitchen to the delight of residents and guests alike.

Resident became Lord Mayor of London

The Sir Thomas Moulson Trust, which owns the building, was founded by a Hargrave resident who became Lord Mayor of London and an MP in the early 17th century. The trust’s income today helps finance the upkeep of the Grade II* St Peter’s Church, adjacent to the hall, and assists local school and university students in their education.

It is hoped the the new kitchen facility in the hall will help increase the trust’s income so that more children and young people may be assisted.
