ROSE-FILLED wreaths and bright red poppies will help people in Frodsham remember the sacrifice of millions of soldiers.

From October 29-November 12 residents will be able to show their support for those who lost their lives fighting for their country by wearing a single red poppy.

Last year people in Frodsham raised more than £7,500 for the Poppy Appeal and this year with local companies, organisations and youngsters lending a helping hand organisers are hoping to raise more than ever.

Ladies of the Women’s Institute will be delivering wreaths, poppy trays and empty tins to local businesses, while youngsters from the town’s Army cadet force and fire cadets will be giving up their weekends to collect money on the streets.

Nick Boyall, organiser of the Frodsham Poppy Appeal 2011, thanked Devonshire Bakery, Frodsham Leisure Centre, and Morrisons for their support with the appeal, and said: “Last year we raised more than £800 more than the previous year, so a big thank you to the generosity of all the people in and around Frodsham.”

The Armistice Day service will be held on Friday, November 11, at the Overton memorial from 10.40am.

The Remembrance Day service will be held at 10am at St Laurence Parish Church.
