Parents, friends and staff at the Firs School in Chester raised £5,450 for The Christie Hospital’s gamma/CAT scanner appeal at their annual ball at the Chester Grosvenor Hotel recently.

Over 100 attended the glittering occasion which was the culmination of weeks of work by its organisers, Firs Parent Group, who raise money for worthy causes during the school year.

Headteacher Margaret Denton said: “Thank you to all The Firs Parent Group who work so hard to provide these enjoyable events which enrich the life of the school. We have had a full calendar of events this year with nearly new sales and coffee mornings in aid of various charities, the Christmas fair and fun day and of course, the wonderful ball which raised an amazing amount for such a worthwhile charity.”
