ROAD tragedies in a village have prompted the parish council to call for action.
In March three people died on the A533 Bostock Road through Bostock Green.
The fatal crashes were top of the agenda at last week's meeting of Bostock Parish Council.
A statement read: 'Bostock Parish Council would like to express their sympathy to the families and friends of the young people who tragically died.
'Bostock Parish Council can only hope these two tragedies will highlight the need for additional road safety measures.
'Bostock Parish Council have repeatedly asked for a speed limit through the village, but we have been informed by Cheshire County Council that we do not meet the criteria. We will, however, continue to press for this.
'Additionally, we would like to raise awareness of road safety on these roads, possibly by the use of warning signs.
'We are at present waiting for the implementation of a weight limit to restrict HGVs passing through the village. The council have been informed by Vale Royal Borough Council and the county council that this has been approved and is awaiting legal ratification and should be in place by the end of April.'
