A man refused to come out of his cell to face a charge of murdering Ellia Arathoon.
Craig Andrew Proctor, of Shephard Close, Ellesmere Port did not appear at Chester Magistrates Court on Friday morning (November 4).
The 39-year-old is charged with the murder of Ms Arathoon, 29, on October 28.
Members of her family were present at the back of the courtroom.
Rob Youds, prosecuting, said Proctor 'refused to come up' for the hearing.
It was conducted in his absence as the accused was not required to enter a plea at this stage.
Ellia, who is from the town centre, has not been seen since last Friday.
She was last spotted in the Cromwell Road and Shephard Close areas of Ellesmere Port.
Officers found possible human remains close to the M53 on Thursday.
A northbound lane of the motorway was shut this morning with enquiries still ongoing.
A 37-year-old man also arrested in relation to the investigation has been bailed pending further enquiries.
Proctor will face a bail hearing at Chester Crown Court on November 7.
He is expected to enter his plea at a hearing scheduled for December 2.
