Young people aged 12-25 are invited to attend, whether they have experience in playwriting or not.
It’s an opportunity to develop their skills and build confidence and to take part in exciting writing projects throughout the year.
As well as regular theatre-writing workshops, this year’s young writers will have the opportunity to create their own work at Whitby Hall Studio Theatre in Ellesmere Port, home to Action Transport Theatre.
Writers will get the chance to see their work performed at a showcase and to collaborate on a play which will tour local schools.
The programme is run by professional playwright Kevin Dyer, winner of the Writers’ Guild of Great Britain Best Play for Children and Young People Award.
Artistic director at Action Transport Theatre, Nina Hajiyianni, said: “Young Writers is all about giving young people a voice in which to express their creative ideas.
“We’ve seen writers from our Young Writers’ programme go on to study creative writing at university, and had some great plays and ideas come out of the workshop sessions.”
