One half of the team behind some of Cheshire’s most successful restaurants made a very special visit to Downing Street this week.

Chef David Mooney, co-owner of New Moon Company whose North-West restaurants include Chester’s Mockingbird Taproom and The Lord Binning in Kelsall, took his wife Jane along for the garden party at Number 10 to honour the company’s achievements over the past few years.

And Mr Mooney, whose business partner is restauranteur Paul Newman, was able to catch up with a familiar face during his visit, after the company recently welcomed Chancellor of the Exchequer George Osborne to Mockingbird Taproom where he cooked up a storm in the kitchen.

The invitation to Downing Street is the latest success in what has already been a highly is another already been a hugely positive year for the New Moon Company.

In March they won an accolade at the Eat Drink Sleep Awards for their pub and kitchen The Old Sessions House in Knutsford and last month saw the VIP opening of their latest venture, the Grade II listed Old Blind School in Liverpool.

Mr Mooney said later of the experience on his Facebook page: “Say what you like about politics, it was amazing.”
