Cheshire West and Chester Council have opened a new car park in Delamere Street, Chester.

The new, fully automated, state-of-the-art car park which offers drivers hassle-free, secure parking in the city opened on Wednesday, April 22.

It provides 351 spaces for visitors and is open from 6.30am to 9pm.

The Delamere Street car park will have a ‘pay on exit’ system so motorists won’t have to guess how long they’re going to stay, as with pay and display systems.

Vanessa Griffiths, the council’s regulatory services manager, said: “Delamere Street car park is modern, well lit and has the very latest in car park technology, making it easy for customers to use.

“Extensive CCTV coverage will give extra security and there are also ‘Help Points’ available to provide assistance if needed at the touch of a button.”

After the car park closes at 9pm, customers will be able to access the building with their parking ticket to collect their vehicle.

Car park charges are the same as at the nearby Gorse Stacks car park and the council has confirmed in a tweet that it will be 'free after three', in line with other city centre car parks.

Several GP practices and community services will be moving into the Fountains Health Medical Centre over the coming weeks, with the first services being operational from Monday, April 27.

Visitors to the medical centre will pay a concessionary rate of £1 for two hours after validating their ticket at the centre after their appointment.
