Chester-based charity Children Today has received a cheque for £10,000 from the Professional Footballers Association.

The cheque was presented by PFA chief executive Gordon Taylor along with winning team captain from the Grand Canyon Challenge, former Sunderland, Derby County and Stoke City striker Marco Gabbiadini.

Children Today expressed its thanks to the PFA for its support since 2006.

Since then the Children Today PFA Challenge Cup has been filled with the names of winning captains including Peter Nicholson, Neville Southall and Alan Kennedy. This has now been retired into Mr Taylor’s trophy cabinet at PFA headquarters and a brand new cup will be created for the charity’s next adventure to Cuba in June 2015.

The money raised from the challenges help to provide vital specialised equipment for children and young people with disabilities living throughout the UK.

If you are interested in joining the Cuba Challenge, supported by Farleys Solicitors, early registration is currently half price at £99 plus minimum sponsorship requirements. Contact Tom Williams at Children Today on 01244 335622 or email thomas@childrentoday.org.uk.
