Chester Racecourse is in the running for a prestigious national award. Chester has been nominated in the Owners’ Experience category at the 2015 RCA Showcase Awards (Racecourse Association) which celebrate innovation and excellence in the industry. The winner will be announced at an awards ceremony in Ascot on November 12.

The news comes as Chester celebrates being named one of the best in the country for owners and awarded Gold Standard Status by the Racehorse Owners’ Association.

Only twelve of Britain’s 60 courses have achieved Gold Status. The accolade, given in a competitive way for the first time this year, comes from the Racehorse Owners Association, the body that has represented racehorse owners for 70 years and currently has more than 7,300 members.

On the home straight

Racecourse Services Director Caroline Davies said: “we are delighted to announce the finalists for the 2015 Showcase & Awards; the only recognised industry awards for British Racecourses. The depth of quality in this year’s submissions was greater than ever, meaning the racecourses that have been listed as finalists are all genuine examples of excellence and innovation.”

Clerk of course at Chester Racecourse Andrew Morris said: “We’re thrilled to have achieved Gold Status again this year and to be named as a finalist in the 2015 RCA Showcase Awards, which recognise genuine excellence and innovation within the industry. It’s testament to the hard work the team at Chester put in behind the scenes all year round to ensure we not only maintain our high standards but strive to do things differently, and better, wherever possible. We’ll be at the award ceremony in November, flying the flag for Chester.”

The Showcase Awards follow on from a daytime seminar of sharing best practice in delivering an exemplary customer experience, with key themes this year being the ‘power of the brand’ and the ‘art of showmanship’.

Guest speakers include Arsenal FC, Wembley Park, Channel 4 Racing and Great British Racing.
