A trespasser on the railway is causing disruptions to Merseyrail services this afternoon (Wednesday, July 13) between Chester and Liverpool.

Merseyrail have issued the following statement: "Due to a trespasser on the railway at Birkenhead Park disruption on the Wirral line is set last until 3pm. Rail replacement buses have been put on.

Merseyrail say train services from West Kirby will be terminated at and started back from Bidston.

Train services from New Brighton will be suspended between New Brighton and Hamilton Square.

Train services from Chester may be cancelled or delayed.

Station staff are currently liaising with British Transport Police and emergency services.
