FIREFIGHTERS battled to save a curious kitten that got stuck in a washing machine.

At just after 5am firefighters were called to a house in Blacon Point Road, Chester after a new born kitten got stuck in a washing machine.

The owner had called emergency services after hearing the black and white kitten crying from inside the machine.

Firefighters dismantled the machine removing the filter to free the animal, who was thought to have been trapped for over an hour.

Firefighter Andy Spencer of Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service said: “The kitten had put its head into the front of the machine and had got stuck.

“It seems that the cat is always playing around the machine and had got inside before through the back, but the front was too small. When we rescued the kitten it seemed fine.”
