A Cheshire Police constable has been sacked for discreditable conduct after admitting drink driving.

Constable Frances Lea, who was based in Northwich, was dismissed after a public misconduct hearing on November 20.

Lea had pleaded guilty to a charge of drink-driving in Chester Way, Northwich, on March 10.

He was banned from driving for 16 months and fined £500 at Manchester Magistrates Court on October 27.

It was the first public misconduct hearing held by Cheshire Police under new government legislation and was chaired by Chief Constable Simon Byrne.

Lea did not attend, but the allegations were found to be true and he was sacked without notice.
