Bus operator Stagecoach Merseyside and South Lancashire has unveiled its Christmas schedule to keep passengers in Cheshire connected over the busy festive period.
Buses will continue to run until around 8pm on Christmas Eve, meaning more time to do Christmas shopping for those who leave it until the last minute. Park and Ride buses will cease by 5.15pm.
There will be a number of special services on Saturday, December 26, ensuring passengers across Cheshire will be able to grab a bargain at the Boxing Day sales.
Major routes including the 1 service that runs from Chester to Liverpool city centre and takes in major shopping centres such as Liverpool ONE and Cheshire Oaks will operate from approximately 7.30am until 7.30pm. Other services taking part include the 1/1A (Blacon), 5, 8, 16, 51 and 53.
All buses in Cheshire will work off a Sunday timetable on Sunday, December 27 and Monday, December 28. From Tuesday, December 29 until Thursday, December 31, buses will mainly operate from a Saturday timetable with the last bus finishing at around 8pm on New Year’s Eve. Park and Ride buses will cease by 5.15pm.
There will be no buses in operation on Christmas Day. The 1 service will run on New Year’s Day to a special timetable.
Normal service to the bus routes will resume on Saturday, January 2.
Elisabeth Tasker, managing director at Stagecoach Merseyside and South Lancashire, said: “Travelling by car over the Christmas period can be an added stress to an already fraught time with worries about parking or being stuck in traffic jams. To assist customers, we’ve added extra services on Boxing Day to make sure they travel with ease and in comfort.
“We’ve made significant investment to our Cheshire fleet this year including the addition of our very first gold buses. These have added real quality to bus travel at the same affordable price as our ordinary buses.”
