Cheshire West and Chester libraries will be asking what they mean to you as part of National Libraries Day on Saturday, February 6.
Visiting a public library is actually more popular than going to a football match or theatre; there are also more library visits than there are trips to the cinema in the UK.
To celebrate libraries in Cheshire West and Chester, library visitors will be photographed with their messages of what the library means for them. The responses and photographs will then be displayed in libraries and on the service’s Facebook, Twitter and Flickr pages.

Staff also will be at the Ellesmere Port Sports Village and Memorial Court in Northwich from 10am to noon on National Libraries Day, to publicise and ask people what libraries mean to them.
In addition, in the run up to National Libraries Day, all users can take part in a national competition to take a picture of themselves with a library book. These photographs can then be tweeted using the hashtag #MyPublicLibrary for a chance to win a collection of books chosen by the author Ali Smith, whose new book is a collection of short stories called Public Library.

The council’s Cabinet member for culture, leisure and wellbeing, Cllr Louise Gittins said: “We are extremely proud of our libraries in Cheshire West and Chester and National Libraries Day is an ideal opportunity for us to all celebrate the amazing things that happen in them.
“Our libraries offer so much alongside books and information. With free computer access, reading groups, activities for children, films, games and music, they bring together communities, as well as providing an ideal location to meet and relax.
“I hope as many people as possible make the most of this day to share the love for libraries.”
