A CAR burst into flames on a major Chester road after a suspected electrical fault.

At just before noon today (Thursday November 15) emergency services were called to the A55 Wrexham Road following reports of a car on fire on the slip road to the A483.

Firefighters from Chester and Ellesmere Port fire stations battled to put out the blaze, which involved a saloon car.

Officers from the Highways Agency closed the slip road while crews dealt with the blaze using one hose reel to extinguish the fire.

The fire is thought to have been caused by an electrical fault.
