A distinctive new tattoo parlour is opening its doors in Chester.

The Minerva Lodge Tattoo Club has chosen to launch its first store in the city, with plans for more Lodges to be launched in the near future.

The business is reaching out to a mainstream audience with a fresh, friendly approach to tattooing in a lodge environment with a very distinct feel.

Created by friends Steven Bowness and Jo Talbot, they bring a combined 30 years experience to working in the tattoo industry.

Jo, who heads up the studio, is an award-winning tattoo artist and has recently had work published in the latest edition of Lal Hardy’s book Tattoo Showcase.

The owners have always seen the importance of the connection between tattooing and supporting fresh artistic talent, so have chosen to launch the top floor of the shop as a dedicated art studio/exhibition area as an integral part of their space.

Bowness explained: “Minerva, the Roman Goddess of wisdom, was known as the sponsor or guardian of the arts  .

“Having previously worked in a tattoo studio together, Jo and I were always surprised at how art studios and emerging creative talent came into the studio to understand technique, style and modern day imagery.

“It made perfect sense for us to combine an art studio to host exhibitions from emerging artists and university students.

“We have created an enigmatic lodge feel to our studio which boasts elegant refurbished furniture and creates a relaxed environment to discuss what is ultimately an important decision.

“In Chester there is a clear distinctive rise in artistic talent and that should be encouraged and celebrated this made Chester our perfect location of choice.”

The Minerva Lodge Tattoo Club also provides rewards, special invites and events for those who interact via
