Bagnalls, the national painting contractor, who have had a branch in Ellesmere Port for more than 50 years, were recipients of three awards at the 25th Anniversary of the Painting & Decorating Association (PDA) Annual Trophy awards.

Bagnalls were awarded the winning trophies for Apprentice, Decorative and Industrial categories.

Kris Pilmer was announced as the PDA Apprentice Winner 2013. The judges commended the way in which Kris, a second year apprentice, interpreted the chosen design, the accuracy of his setting out and his ability to precisely cut in.

His progress is evidence of his natural skill and ability but also the additional support he receives from both college and Bagnalls’ painting academy,.

The apprentice win was followed shortly after with recognition of the highly decorative work undertaken at the University of Leeds’ Great Hall, a Grade II listed building, built in 1849.

The final win of the day was for an outstanding project undertaken by our ICATS (industrial coating applicator training scheme) painters from the Ellesmere Port branch.

The contract was for the complete redecoration of the Docks Light Railway Bridge which spans the Canary Wharf complex in London. The design was a realisation of the artist Sinta Tantra’s vision, titled A Beautiful Sunset Mistaken for a Dawn .
