Chester price comparison website Businessescomparison.com has beaten off stiff national competition to be named as the SME Website of the Year at a ceremony in London.

The Fintech company, based at the Steam Mill in Boughton, was announced as the winner at the SME Awards 2016 at Grosvenor House in Park Lane, London in June.

The online firm, that helps small business owners to compare deals on business bank accounts, commercial mortgages and business energy and insurance, is celebrating the accolade after only launching in April 2015.

Head Philip Brennan said: “This is the recognition our team deserves. They’ve worked tirelessly to form new partnerships, redesign the site and launch a successful radio and taxi advertising marketing campaign.

“We are bringing price comparison to businesses nationwide and now have more than 20,000 site users a month. We’ve helped 2,000 companies find the best energy tariff, 3,000 business owners find the finance they need and 8,000 firms chose their bank account with us.

“Our team has grown and we’ve recently formed new partnerships in energy and van insurance and even met with Eddisbury MP Antoinette Sandbach to discuss the important contribution Businesscomparison.com is making to the alternative finance market for SMEs.

“We want to create a culture of saving money for small to medium sized businesses and winning this award is a fantastic part of our journey towards doing that. We will continue to expand our team and keep up the hard work.”

The SME Awards are designed to applaud the hard work of the best in UK business. Organisers state that the winners are ambitious, tenacious business entities that want to make their mark.

Managing editor of SME magazine Louise Naughton said: “Covering the small business market is an absolute joy and privilege. To be allowed access behind the scenes to see the talents, passions and dedication of so many small business owners is truly inspiring. Tonight shows how important it is to celebrate SME success. Congratulations to all of our short-listed companies and especially our winners.”
