APPRENTICESHIP jobs have been created at the council.
Two apprentice plumbers and two apprentice electricians will be recruited by Cheshire West and Cheshire Council in Ellesmere Port.
The new appointments will work and train with the council’s Housing Repairs and Maintenance Team.
Applications are now being welcomed for the four roles, with the successful candidates taking up their positions in April.
Applicants must be 16 and over with five GCSEs at grades A-C, including maths and physics. Enthusiasm and some knowledge of the construction industry is essential.
Cllr Les Ford, executive member for resources, said: “This is a fantastic opportunity for young people within the Ellesmere Port area who are interested in a rewarding career in the building maintenance sector.
“The successful candidates will get the opportunity to learn their trade working side by side with highly trained council staff whilst also attending college on a weekly basis.”
The apprenticeships will be based in Rosefield Road Depot. The rate of pay for apprentices is £105 per week, plus travelling expenses for college attendance.
