In this week's Nostalgia page we're looking at Chester nightlife in years gone by.

Over the years, our city has seen a plethora of pubs, bars and nightclubs - many of which will be remembered by hundreds of readers who regularly frequented them.

Chester's History and Heritage Centre have provided us with pictures of just some of the thriving hotspots you might remember, but we want to know of the others you used to go to, and hear your memories of unforgettable nights out.

One of the venues pictured here is Quaintways on Northgate Street, where Rosies stands today. It was run by city entepreneur Gordon Vickers, who now owns the Mill Hotel.

This live music venue saw a host of famous names play there over the years and during its 1970s heyday, including Elton John, Thin Lizzy, Rod Stewart, Status Quo and the Sex Pistols.

And did you know that The Beatles played at the Riverpark Ballroom in 1962? According to the Chester Walls website, on August 16 of that year, the original, but newly-sacked, drummer Pete Best was supposed to play his final gig that night, but he didn’t turn up, and had to be hastily replaced with Johnny Hutchinson.

Send us your memories and pictures of Chester nightlife, and let us know which places you'd love to see coming back.
