The beachwear which paraded down this season’s catwalks was as much about accessories as the tankinis, bikinis and one-pieces. Cover-ups, wide-brimmed hats, footwear and even hair accessories have become essential items for anyone even thinking of stepping onto the sand, let alone dipping a toe in the water.

Swimwear now comes in collections. Rarely do you see a stand-alone bikini. There’s always a co-ordinating beachwrap, flip flops, beach bag and often a towel to choose from as well.

Even statement jewellery has found its way into the new look - just remember not to wear anything metal as it will burn when it gets hot.
