A student from Ellesmere Port is celebrating after winning her second competition this year for her nail designs.

Georgia Yeardsley, 19, who studies at West Cheshire College in the town, took top spot in her category at the National Nail Championships held at the NEC Birmingham.

The success comes after a similar win at Professional Beauty’s London ExCel show in March.

The success for Georgia, who is studying nail services, didn’t stop there as in the same week she took third place in a regional competition in St Helens.

Georgia completed a full set of acrylic nails and beat 10 other competitors at the NEC.

She said: “I was a lot more confident this time after my success earlier in the year.

“My tutor put me forward for the competition.

“She’s extremely supportive always pushing us to do well.”

Georgia’s talents have been recognised as she has already secured a permanent job when she finishes college as a nail technician at a local salon.

Other successes from the college at the Birmingham event included Lynda Young who claimed third place and Gaynor Elliot who managed fifth in the same category as Georgia.

At St Helens, student Lauren Carr gained a first and Emma Parhiz also took a top spot in her category.

All the students are waiting to hear back on whether they will compete in the national finals to held at the NEC in November.

Andrea Rimmer, salon manager in beauty at the college, said:“I am so proud of the students who have done fantastically well in the competitions, it shows just how talented they are.

“Georgia is an excellent student and she deserves every success.

“I’m delighted she has secured a permanent job when she finishes college.”
