The Queen’s School, Chester, GCSE results

THE Queen’s School, Chester, has smashed its GCSE results record with a 99.7% pass rate.

More than 84% of papers were awarded either A* or A grades and nearly 70% of students scored at least eight A* or A grades.

Fourteen girls gained straight 8 A*s or better and seven girls celebrated 10 A* grades and one pupil scored 11 top grades.

Headteacher Catherine Buckley said: "I am immensely proud of all our students and their teachers.

"With a pass rate of virtually 100% and more than 97% of examinations scoring grades A*-B these results once again underline the benefits of a single-sex education for girls.

"The girls have all worked extremely hard for their success, but for both GCSE and A-level groups to surpass every previous record so decisively is a stunning achievement."
