Queens Park High School A-level results

QUEENS Park High School described this year’s A Level results as "excellent".

The class of 2009 have outperformed last year’s students by gaining a higher average points score.

Exceptional results were achieved by a number of students including Millie Hodgson, who gained five A grades in biology, chemistry, physics, maths and further maths.

Millie is now going to study physics and mathematics at Warwick University.

Stephen Jameson also gained four A grades in maths, biology, chemistry and physics and has secured a place to read medicine at Liverpool University.

Other students who performed exceptionally well included Danielle Alderson who gained three grade As in biology, geography and English language as well as a Grade B in chemistry and will go on to study geography at Liverpool University.

Matthew Humphreys, who gained three A grades in biology, chemistry and mathematics will study genetics at Manchester University.

Jeremy Wilderspin has achieved three A grades in physics, mathematics and further mathematics and a grade B in chemistry and is going to study Mathematics at St Andrews University.

Other high achievers include Lucy Cooper, who gained three A grades in photography, textiles and media studies, Caylee Mackay, who achieved three A grades in psychology, media studies and English literature and Heather Baker, who achieved three A grades in digital photography, media studies and English literature and a B grade in English language. Hannah is going on to study marketing and management at Manchester University.

Headteacher Andrew Firman said: "Results at Queen’s Park High this year continue the school’s record of strong achievement at A Level. Over half of all grades achieved were at A and B level, almost half of all students achieving at least one A grade amongst their results.

"We are very proud of the achievements of our students who have yet again performed exceptionally well. Their achievements are a credit to themselves and a reflection of the high quality teaching and learning that the school provides".

Head of Sixth Form Steph Preston offered her personal congratulations to all students and added: "These results are a reflection of the commitment and hard work of the students and their teachers over the last two years.

"We are understandably proud of the high grades that so many students have achieved. We are also just as proud of the wider range of grades both at A2 and AS levels, which show many students are successful in gaining grades above expectations based on
