CHESHIRE West and Chester Council leader Mike Jones’s company has survived a winding up petition raised by HM Revenue and Customs after a settlement was reached.
Cllr Jones and his wife Suzanne are company directors in ASC Developments (Chester) Ltd which is an electrical, plumbing and building firm based at Glen Industrial Estate, River Lane, Saltney, Chester.
HM Revenue and Customs brought the winding up petition on June 8 before the High Court in London, claiming to be a creditor, but the Registrar dismissed the case after it is understood the matter was settled.
The most recent financial statement lodged with Companies House, dated March 31, 2010, shows the company made a loss of £18,145 in 2010 and a loss of £49,304 in 2009.
A spokesman for ASC Developments (Chester) Ltd said the building industry had been impacted by the economic downturn.
The spokesman said: “It is common knowledge that the recession has not been kind to many small companies in the building industry.
“However whilst this company has also experienced some problems these were successfully resolved some months ago.”
