Chester busker Jake Sanson auditions for TV’s Britain’s Got Talent

AN EXPECTANT dad and well-known busker is hoping to perform in front of music mogul millionaire Simon Cowell.

Jake Sanson, 23, of Hoole, has been busking on the streets of Chester for three years but he is now just one step away from appearing on ITV’s Britain’s Got Talent.

Already father to his one-year-old daughter, Jake, who is studying to become a youth worker, is waiting to hear if he has been successful after an audition with the programme’s producer.

If he gets the nod then he will come face to face to arguably the most powerful man in the music industry, as well as fellow judges Piers Morgan and Amanda Holden.

“It went better than I could have imagined,” he said. “I sang one of my own sons How We Do It In The Movies and Oasis’ Live Forever after they requested me to do another song.

“I am still waiting but hopefully something will happen for me. My wife is due anytime soon so it’s a pretty exciting time for us all.”

Jake has been busking in Chester for three years and describes the majority of the city’s shoppers as “fairly pleasant with a good appreciation of music.”

And with plans for an album in the pipeline, selection for BGT would be boost he needs to achieve his dream of becoming a professional musician.

“It’s what I love doing,” he said. “Of course it helps a bit with funds as I am relying on my student loan and I need to support my family but it’s mainly about playing songs to people.

“I also find that busking is the best way to promote yourself. Technically you are auditioning for your next gig. I am being booked for weddings, parties, pubs etc on the back of playing on the streets.”
