GUILDFORD Heat welcome the Jets on Saturday after grinding out an 89-73 victory at strugglers Essex Pirates last weekend.

Nevertheless Heat veteran forward Julius Joseph is excited about facing the Jets, who could go clear at the top with the Mersey Tigers not playing this weekend.

“I guess it’s two ends of the spectrum, going from playing an inexperienced Essex to one of the proven sides in the BBL,” said Joseph.

“I don’t know too much about them this season, but Jeremy Bell is playing really well. Calvin Davies always produces on the court and is always good for a double-double.

“We were without David Schneider and Lekan Popoola last week and hopefully they’ll be back, but coach has a philosophy of not pushing people to play if they’re injured.”

On Sunday the Plymouth Raiders make the long trek to Chester to face the Jets and Raiders coach Gavin Love knows it will be a tough test for his side.

“The Jets have had an outstanding start to the season, they have a talented roster,” he said.

“Bell is looking to be an excellent point guard in this league, but I feel they have a good mix of experience and young talent.”

The Raiders had last weekend off having lost to Sheffield Sharks the previous week.

“We played well but small mistakes cost us,” said Love.
