The World Darts Trophy returns this month, showcasing action from the game’s greatest talent including the newly crowned world champions.

The event, taking place from February 26 to March 1, is organised by BDO Events, the commercial arm of the British Darts Organisation, and will see champions Scott Mitchell (Scotty Dog) and Lisa Ashton (The Lancashire Rose) heading to EventCity, Manchester, to build on the success they achieved at the World Professional Darts Championship held at Lakeside.

And thanks to The Pioneer, you can enjoy all the action from the Manchester venue with our competition.

Scott Mitchell, from the New Forest (winner of 10 BDO world ranking titles) and Bolton’s Lisa Ashton (two times world champion) will join top players from 16 different countries, including Lakeside quarter finalist, Canada’s Jeff Smith, battling it out for a share of the £50,500 prize pot.

Stephen Holland, managing director of BDO Events, said: “This is an exciting time for darts. The World Darts Trophy will see the very best players within the British Darts Organisation and from around the world competing for the title at this new and amazing venue.

“The First World Trophy in Blackpool was a huge success and it is now established as a major event on the BDO calendar. We know that the fans will come to Manchester and will enjoy some excellent darts and, undoubtedly, some nail-biting finishes.”

Sue Williams, chairwoman of the BDO, added: “Both I and the BDO board of directors are pleased that once again we are able to work alongside BDO Events to stage another World Trophy. EventCity is an exciting venue and it is a fantastic opportunity for our players to play on another big stage.”

Thousands of darts fans will converge on the Manchester venue, next to the Trafford Centre, to witness four days of darts action, when they will see 32 men and 16 women, including the champions, together with the Lakeside men’s finalist Martin Adams and ladies finalist 20-year-old Fallon Sherrock, plus the reigning World Trophy ladies winner Anastasia Dobromyslova.

EventCity, Manchester, is located close to the M6, M62, M56, and the M60, has 3,000 free car parking spaces, full bar and refreshments.

Andy Orr, managing director at EventCity, Manchester, said: “We’re delighted to welcome the World Darts Trophy to EventCity. This is a first for us, so we can’t wait to see how Manchester embraces the sport. We expect the event to be a huge success and look forward to working with the BDO Events team.”
